Primary Election May 6th, 2014


If you explore the Portage County Board of Elections website, you'll see that there are a huge number of candidates on the ballot- but that most are running unopposed. Where there are contested races, the winners will go on to run in the general election in November.

There are also a number of local issues, along with one state-wide issue that will be decided by voters on election day, Tuesday, May 6th.

State Issue 1- Proposed Constitutional Amendement: Issuance of General Obligation Bonds to fund Public Infrastructure Improvements

Issue 3- Aurora City Schools Renewal Tax Levy 1.5 mills for General Permanent Improvements- 5 Years beginning in 2014

Issue 10- Portage County Park District Additional Tax Levy .5 mill for Current Expenses- 10 Years beginning in 2014

Issue 11- Aurora City Zoning Map Amendment: 548 Acres revised to create mixed-use development district on the old Geauga Lake Park property.
